Will graduated with Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering Degrees from the University of Missouri – Columbia in 1987 and is a licensed professional engineer in several states. Upon obtaining his engineering degrees, Will designed and tested cruise missile and combat aircraft software and hardware for over 9 years for a St. Louis aerospace company. He also tested factory automation equipment for over 7 years for a Milwaukee manufacturing company.

Since joining Schaefer Engineering, Inc. in 2004, Will has provided engineering consulting services in the areas of electrical system and equipment failure analysis, substation failure analysis, electrical injury and electrocution investigations, and has been involved in the determination of fire causation on many commercial, residential, equipment and vehicular fire losses.

Will is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (NAFI-CFEI) and a Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator (NAFI-CVFI). He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI), and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Will has been an instructor at IAAI Chapter Conventions, National Association of Subrogation Professionals (NASP) International and Chapter Conventions and various other venues on the subjects of electrical appliance and electrical system evaluations related to fire cause, and on the subject of the role of an engineer in fire investigations.
